Exactly a year ago on this day, the combined might of the forces for Palestinian national liberation in Gaza launched a counteroffensive against the Israeli occupation forces, forcing them back from Gaza and causing thousands of Israeli settlers to flee. This was an act of resistance against decades of settler-colonialism, imperialism, and genocide. Since then, the genocidal false state of Israel has murdered over 40,000 Palestinians (with the number likely being much higher), including nearly 20,000 children; along with bombing universities, hospitals, mosques, and civilian homes in Gaza. However, the heroic Palestinian resistance persists.

October 7th will forever be known as a day when the Palestinian people stood up; and around the world, workers and oppressed people have been standing up in support of the Palestinian people; Most significantly, in Lebanon and Yemen, where in the face of imperialist aggression, national liberation groups have struck direct blows against the false state of Israel.

Across the world, tens of millions have taken to the streets in support of Palestine. Workers in Spain, India, Belgium, and several other countries have refused to handle military shipments to Israel, and students and activists have occupied universities demanding divestment from Israel. There have been countless other incidents of direct action being taken either directly against the Israeli false state, governments that back it, companies that support it, or weapons manufacturers that arm it.

October 7th and the heroic Palestinian resistance will forever live on in the consciousness of workers around the world, serving as a reminder and inspiration for the courage, spirit, and militant action that is necessary in the face of imperialism. It is a day of international significance for the entire working class and will be celebrated for decades to come.

Last year, the Working People’s Association wrote, “the greatest weapon against US imperialism is its own working class,” which we still uphold. Ruling class-backed media has worked overtime to attempt to frame Palestinian resistance to genocide as “barbaric” and “savage,” along with spreading countless amounts of lies and misinformation. All because they know, just as Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Donald Trump know, that their power relies on the exploitation and oppression of the working class. They know that if the working class in this country were to rise up, similar to how the Palestinian people have, it would mark the end of US imperialism and exploitation.
